From 1996 until 1999 DreamScape continued to grow.
The Acolytes were now powered avatars and welcomed people but the groups welcomed most new members.

The Golden Knights were a very strong group. They helped in many ways by:

giving classes in security
-
acting as go between in trade.

being present to help prevent theft
-
running a shop where the profits went to help new members
-
welcoming new members
-
helping kids (formed the GK Squires)
-
setting up turfs where they could take new members
-
these turfs had heads, chests, and paints for new members
-
plus, here the Golden Knights could teach new members in privacy
-
The other groups were more social and fun groups but helped with many of the same things the GKs did.

For awhile around 1999 new people came in through the Community Center from a Hatchery instead of the Argo.

Shatzi, Song, and other members formed the Newbie Welcome Project.

Many people signed up on a web page to sit at the desk to watch for them.

When a new member entered the person at the desk was to ESP a Golden Knight to help them.
-
If there was no Golden Knight available the person at the desk would help the new person.

Generally the people in DreamScape helped new people and it gave the feeling of a friendly small community.

Later the Newbie Welcome Project stopped and Song sat at the desk for most of the day trying to help the new people as they entered.
